‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’- National Unity Day celebrated with much fervor in JCD Vidyapeeth
Staff & the students of the constituent colleges of JCD Vidyapeeth came together to commemorate 31 October – the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as ‘ Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day)to honor a social leader, who played a leading role in the country’s struggle for independence and guided its integration into a united, independent nation. In the programme organized in the JCD Polytechnic, Er. R.S.Brar, Principal of the college administered the pledge to dedicate oneself to preserve the unity, integrity & security of the nation and to strive hard to spread the message among our fellow countrymen. Pledge was taken in the spirit of unification of our country which was made possible by the vision & actions of late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Everybody solemnly resolved to strive for to keep unity & integrity of India. Later, Er.R.S.Brar introduced about the life, career & philosophy of Sardar Patel. He shared that Sardar Patel is popularly known as the Iron Man of India for the immense contribution in the freedom struggle. Recalling the events which shaped ‘Bardoli’ Satyagraha in the British Raj, he mentioned that Bardoli suffered from a serious predicament of a famine and steep tax hike. Patel initiated the struggle—complete denial of taxes. It was during the struggle and after the victory in Bardoli that Patel was increasingly addressed by his colleagues and followers as ‘Sardar’. On the occasion, Er. R.S.Brar exhorted everybody to learn & imbibe the values from the life & philosophy of Sardar Patel. The occasion provided reaffirming the inherent strength and resilience of the people of the nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country.
